Something To Hang On To | A Grief Gang Christmas Event

£35.00

Christmas can feel heavy when someone's missing. Trust me, if there’s any group of people who get that, it’s us.

The lights, the songs, the empty chair at the table, the traditions. Everything can be a painful reminder of what once was.

This year, the Grief Gang community is coming together to hold that, to honour it. Something to Hang On To is an evening of remembrance, connection and making, in a room full of people who just get it. You'll create your own memory bauble in honour of your person, something to hang on your tree this Christmas and every one after.

Come as you are, grief and all, and leave with something beautiful. Made by you, lovingly.

The evening

  • Arrive and settle in. Grab a drink from the bar and find a seat!

  • A moment of remembrance. A gentle space to bring your person into the room, sharing their name only if you'd like to.

  • Write to them. A note to your person to seal inside your bauble.

  • Make your bauble. Fill it, decorate it and make it theirs.

  • Share together. A moment to share our creations, if you'd like to.

What's included

  • A glass memory bauble to make in honour of your person.

  • Everything you need to fill it and decorate the outside, including filling materials, paint pens, ribbons, stickers and more

  • A bag to carry your bauble home safely

  • A short guide to get you started

  • Festive treats such as mince pies, biscuits and other festive yumminess (I’ll send a google form round nearer the time to get some of your orders in for snacks!)

Drinks are available to buy from The Hearth's bar.

Make it yours: you're welcome to bring anything you'd like to add to your bauble. That could be a small photo of your person, a printout of their handwriting, a favourite lyric or quote, or anything else that reminds you of them. Small sizes work best: around 5cm, to fit inside or stick onto the glass. We’ll get clearer on dimensions closer to the time.

FAQs

Do I need to be crafty?
Not at all. Everything is designed to be easy and beautiful, whatever your skill level!

Can I come on my own?
Yes, and many people do. You'll be welcomed in the moment you arrive.

Can I bring a friend?
Of course. They just need their own ticket.

What if it gets emotional?
It might, and that's okay. There's no pressure to share, and there'll be a quiet space if you need a breather. Our team will be around if you'd like someone to talk to.

What should I bring?
Just yourself! If you'd like, bring a small photo, printout or keepsake to add to your bauble (see "Make it yours" above).

Can I get a refund?
Plans change, and we understand! Here's how it works:

  • Cancel by Friday 27th November: full refund

  • Cancel between 28th November and 4th December: 50% refund

  • From 5th December: we're unable to offer a refund, as materials and numbers will be confirmed and purchased by this point.

Can't make it? You're always welcome to transfer your place to a friend, free of charge, up to 48 hours before the event. Just email us their name. If we ever need to cancel the event, you'll receive a full refund.

To cancel or transfer, email thegriefgang@gmail.com
